This is a two week trip including sightseeing in the Kathmandu valley, a gentle trek in the Annapurna foothills, wildlife safari in the Chitwan National Park and visit to Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.
The Best of Nepal Tour is one of our most popular tours as it allows you to experience activities that Nepal is justly famous for: sightseeing, trekking and jungle safari. With this itinerary you are guaranteed to get the most from your two weeks. Starting in the ancient capital of Nepal, we have plenty of time to wander around the sights: medieval market squares, narrow lanes and dozens of ancient Buddhist and Hindu temples.
Day01: Arrive Kathmandu
Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, where you will be welcomed and then you will be transferred to your hotel. We will outline the program upon arrival at hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
After a welcome breakfast, we will take you on a half-day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu Valley including Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most important Hindu temples in Nepal. We continue with a walking tour to see some of the huge of Buddhist stupas, also known as Buddhanath, the largest stupas in Nepal. Afterwards we will take a ride to Bhaktapur, a fascinating town, visiting Bhaktapur's Dubar Square which features a Victorian style of illustrations, with many temples and temple complexes. We continue on the route to Nagarkot and stay overnight at a hotel there.
After breakfast (and breathtaking mountain views), we return to Kathmandu and continue our valley sightseeing with Kathmandu Durbar Square, the place of the Malla, and then the Shah Kings of Nepal, visiting Kumari Temple, house of the virgin goddess, visiting Swyambunath, a stupa on a hilltop (from where you can have a fine broad view of Kathmandu Valley), visiting Patan city, the second largest town in the valley, Krishna Mandir, Golden Temple etc. Overnight at Hotel.
Day04: Kathmandu-Chitwan (190kms/5hrsdrive).
After breakfast, we travel overland from Kathmandu to Royal Chitwan National Park, wher you will have the opportunity to experience several safari activities; jungle walks, canoeing, 4WD safaris and so forth. After nightfall we will entertain you with cultural performances by bonfire-light before bedtime.
After breakfast, you will havet a full day of safari activities in Royal Chitwan National Park. If you are lucky, you will see many amazing creatures. Such as rhinoceroses, Chitwan's royal Bengal tigers, leopards, monkeys, many types of deer and reptiles. Keep your camera gear handy - preferably with a telephoto lens! Overnight at hotel.
Day06: Chitwan–Lumbini (138kms–3hoursdrive)
After breakfast, we travel overland from Chitwan to Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, which is revered as the place of holy pilgrimage. Lumbini has been included as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Upon arrival at Lumbini, we transfer you to the hotel for check-in, and then we go walking through the Sacred Lumbini Garden where the Buddha was born, converging on the Ashoka pillar, then visit the Maya Devi Temple with its bas-relief sculpture depicting Maya Devi holding on with her right hand to a branch of sal tree and giving birth to the infant Buddha who stands upright on a lotus petal. Overnight at hotel.
Day07: Lumbini–Pokhara (264kms/7hoursdrive).
After breakfast, we depart for Pokhara and commence a full day sightseeing of Pokhara, the most popular destination in Nepal after Kathmandu. We will take an enjoyable morning trip along the banks of Phewa Lake, where you can admire a stunning view of the FishTail Peak reflected in the silver surface of the water. You can also see the wonderful panorama of the Annapurna range which forms a superb backdrop to Pokhara from the lakeside. Aside from Phewa Lake, we will visiting the famous Seti River gorge, and see Mahendra Gufa which is well-known for its stalactites. Stay overnight at hotel.
Duration: 2hrs drive and 5 hrs trek. Altitude: 2070m
Duration: 6hrs trek. Altitude: 2850m
Day 10: Ghorepani- Poon Hill excursion early in the morning - Tadapani.
Duration: 6hrs trek. Altitude: 2670m
Duration: 3hrs trek. Altitude: 1950m
Duration: 4hrs trek and 2hrs drive. Altitude: 960m
Rest day. Leisure walks around lake side. Overnight at hotel.
Day14: Pokhara to Kathmandu (200 kms –5/6hoursdrive).
After breakfast, scenic drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.
Departure: Transfer to airport to connect with onward flight.
